The City Theatre of Ruma

The City Theatre of Ruma was established in 1994, with aim to act through creative actions in the fields of culture.
It cherished the classical access to the theater, especially until the foundation of the TREMA festival in 1998. That was the year when our theater made a turn and expanded its actions in all areas of civil initiatives.
It has six sections and gathers about a hunred active members; wors on education its artistic managers. It has been started several workshops. The theater works on themes which have wide importannce for our local community. The city theater cherishes different aspects of theater expressions; starts positive civil actions; and plans to make volunteer's centre; works on connecting regional projects. it gathers individuals an authors who are intersted in our projects. It also affirms their work. The theater works with similar culture organizations, and helps them. It also participates in various humanitarian actions and activities which are important for our local community and region.
One of our projects is " THEATER EDUCATES" and it is connected with the battle against aids. the theater also educates througt play " VIRUS". It has been a participant of the campaign "for human rights" since 2001. We have also participated in campaigns " To Europe" since 2002, and in a regional project "Geotakt II " since 2003. Our theater also won several first prizes: during the 43 rd republic festival of the amateurs theaters in Kula; during the winner's festival in novi becej ; during new theater's forms festival in Pancevo, and on provincial may theater games in Indjija.

Every year, in march, the city theater organizes "THE TREMA FEST". It is the Theater Review of Evropean Multicultural Action. Our support are: Provincial secretariat for culture and education, Town- hall Ruma and Cultural center Ruma. The city theater has one permanent occupied member (technician secretary). He has been financed from memberhip fee and tickets. The seven members are oftheater's administrative committee.

The city theater continues to make experiments and to clear it's way on the theater map of the world !
